Popcap筹建中国工作室 负责人将在华招聘

  据美国最大的休闲游戏开发公司Popcap证实,该公司将组建中国工作室(Studio China),负责人将在本地招聘。

  据证实,Popcap的中国工作室可能设于上海,主要负责既有产品的本地化和新产品的开发。Popcap公司表示,目前该工作室仍在筹建阶段,Popcap正在招聘该工作室的负责人,目前尚没有合适的人选。

  据Popcap公司公布的资料显示,Popcap中国工作室的性质是独立的中国本土游戏公司“宝开游戏公司”,该工作室有中国产品的设计自由和最终决定权。

  Head of Studio, ChinaJob Description

  PopCap Games is looking for a talented, self-motivated and highly driven individual to set up and direct PopCap’s first game studio in China. The studio will be responsible for adapting PopCap’s games to the Chinese market by building new, advanced multiplayer products based on existing PopCap games, designed around business models that have already been proven successful in China and built to the highest level of quality. The studio will have full creative control over its own products for China. This is more like a well-funded Chinese game company start-up, and less a Chinese subsidiary for PopCap.   Responsibilities include the following:

  Building and managing the team:

  Assemble a world-class team of engineers, artists, producers, and designers through a combination of acquisition and recruiting. Ensure team retention by creating a healthy culture that rewards individual accomplishment and encourages creativity.

  Identify any training needs, and oversee the creation of a successful training program using a combination of coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing from PopCap’s other studios worldwide.

  Set up development processes and pipelines for the studio as needed. Assist the GM in setting up an appropriate compensation structure for the team and manage a regular review process for studio employees.

  Adapting PopCap’s games to China:

  Direct the design of new multiplayer games for China which leverage strengths and brands of PopCap’s existing catalog of best selling games, but are designed from scratch for China. These games will build on top of business models which have already proven to be successful in China, but will require significant innovation and creativity as well.

  Establish a quality bar for the China studio that rivals the quality bar set by PopCap’s legendary US studio, and then ensure that all work produced by the Chinese studio hits or exceeds it.

  Required experience & skills

  The ideal candidate for this position has the following skills & experience:

  A thorough understanding of the domestic casual games business in China, with at least 3 years experience working in casual games and at least 5 years working in the overall game industry.

  Proven skills setting up, motivating, and managing a large development team.

  A passion for creating games of the highest quality, and a willingness to try new ideas and seek innovation and creativity.

  Experience developing online, multiplayer games. Massively multiplayer experience preferred.

  Ability to judge quality, with a very good sense for what will make a game successful in China.

  Marketing experience preferred, with an understanding for how to effectively promote and sell items within games to users.

  A native Chinese candidate is strongly preferred. Prior experience working with a western company is preferred but not required.
